Paul De Weerdt of Genius Woodcraft, a carpenter in Limhamn, Vellinge, and Malmö

Paul De Weerdt

A carpenter in Malmö who specializes in custom-built interiors and bespoke furniture, with a focus on sustainable materials and meticulous craftsmanship.

How it all began

My journey into woodworking began in 2016. What started as a single project quickly grew into a deeper interest in materials, construction, and the satisfaction of creating something with my hands.

Over the years, I have experimented, learned new techniques, and refined my approach through various projects—from furniture and interior design to more technical custom builds.

That process has shaped how I work today: methodically, thoughtfully, and with respect for the material.

Experience and perspective

My journey into woodworking began in 2016. What started as a single project quickly grew into a deeper interest in materials, construction, and the satisfaction of creating something with my hands.

Over the years, I have experimented, learned new techniques, and refined my approach through various projects—from furniture and interior design to more technical custom builds.

That process has shaped how I work today: methodically, thoughtfully, and with respect for the material.

How I Work

I work closely with both private clients and interior designers throughout the entire process—from the initial concept to the final installation. Some projects begin with detailed drawings, others with a simple sketch or an idea. Regardless of the starting point, the goal remains the same: to create something that suits the space, its intended use, and the people who will live with it.

I value clear communication, realistic expectations, and taking the time needed to do the job right.

Good results always start with good planning.

Materials and craftsmanship

The choice of materials is an important part of my work. I prefer to use solid wood, sustainable finishes, and proven construction methods.

Rather than compromising, I try to invest more time and energy at the beginning of the process to ensure that the result stands the test of time, both technically and visually.

Good craftsmanship isn’t about perfection for its own sake, but about building something that works and lasts for many years.

What I'm working on today

Today, I primarily work with custom-built interiors, bespoke furniture, and projects where technology is integrated into the furniture in smart and creative ways.

Most projects are located in Malmö, Limhamn, and Vellinge, but I also take on assignments in other parts of Skåne depending on the scope of the project.

Regardless of size, the work is based on the same foundation: thoughtful design, careful material selection, and craftsmanship that stands the test of time.
